Cultural and artistic project “Reading the Kobzar”
Launched in 2016. The purpose of the project: to involve pupils and students in the study of the life and creative heritage of Kobzar; step-by-step acquaintance with the way of Shevchenko’s Word to the people of Ukraine; knowledge of Shevchenko’s world and its surroundings; understanding of Taras’s mission to spiritually consolidate Ukrainian society.
The objectives of the project are to unite the nation around the spiritual relics of the Ukrainian people, to promote the patriotic upbringing of young people; the study of Taras Shevchenko’s stay in the Korsun region; studying the way of struggle of the Ukrainian people for freedom and independence; education of national consciousness of project participants.
In the course of the project implementation during Shevchenko Days literary classes dedicated to the life and work of Taras Shevchenko are held with the use of elements of performance, quiz, recitation of Shevchenko’s poetry; book exhibitions are held; the memory of figures close to Taras Shevchenko is honored: Bartholomew Shevchenko, brothers Peter and Feofan Lebedintsev, descendants of the Shevchenko line – artist Photiy Krasytskiy and writer Dmytro Krasytskiy; the results of the study of the legacy of fellow countryman-Shevchenko scholar Petro Zhur are published. A significant contribution to the study of Taras Shevchenko’s ties with the Korsun region is the book “Korsun Roads of Shevchenko”, of Candidate of Historical Sciences, Honored Worker of Culture of Ukraine, Director of the Preserve Paraskoviya Stepenkina For the first time in Ukrainian historiography, Kobzar’s roads through the Korsun region were studied in it.
The literary hours spent in the historical museum of the Reserve within the framework of the project had a significant resonance: “My sincere brother and friend” (2016), “Taras Shevchenko had been here” (2017), “Taras Shevchenko and the Maidan” (2018), “Literary Shevchenkiana of Korsun Region” (2019), “Famous and Unknown Taras Shevchenko” (2020). Students of Korsun-Shevchenkivskiy Pedagogical Vocational College named after Taras Shevchenko, students of secondary schools of Korsun-Shevchenkivskiy took an active part in these events. In 2021 it is planned to hold a literary hour dedicated to the 200th anniversary of Bartholomew Shevchenko birth.
