On June 8, children made dolls from grass and flowers in the Nature Reserve.
editFrom time immemorial, our ancestors celebrated the Green Holidays, which have a pagan origin, combine honoring the dead and vegetation, mark the end of spring and the beginning of summer. Over time, the rites of this holiday were forgotten or changed, but the tradition of decorating houses with green branches of maple, linden, elm, and lining the floor with herbs – lovage, mint, tansy, sedge, etc. Even today, in Ukrainian villages on the Green Holidays, you can see manors decorated with klechen. It is attached, like charms, on gates, roofs and windows, near images.
Some time after the introduction of Christianity, the Green holidays were combined with the Holy Trinity – one of the biggest Christian holidays, which marks the appearance of the Most High in three guises – God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit.
On the eve of these holidays, scientific workers Larisa Grebenichenko and Kateryna Loyenko held an ethnographic and nature event for children on the territory of the Reserve, during which everyone could make a doll from grass and flowers. More than 15 types of plants were used for this. The children were especially interested in aromatic herbs – meadow sage, creeping thyme, water mint, garden jasmine. Young masters creatively approached the design of their dolls, which they took with them. Such products are harmoniously combined with the ancient custom of decorating the home with potions.
The event gave each of the participants the opportunity to learn more about the flora of their native land, about the customs and rituals of the Ukrainian people.
We sincerely congratulate everyone on the upcoming holidays.
We preserve Ukrainian traditions, we believe in the power of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and our Victory.
