Thematic tour dedicated to the 207th anniversary of Taras Shevchenko’s birth
editPrior to the Shevchenko Days, the Preserve holds a number of events, including walking tours of Korsun-Shevchenkivskiy. Taras Shevchenko visited the city three times: in the 1820s, 1840s and in 1859. The first two times Taras traveled here, and on his last visit to Ukraine he lived in Korsun with his cousin and relative Bartholomew Shevchenko.
On March 3, pupils of the preschool educational institution “Zirochka” visited the thematic tour dedicated to the 207th anniversary of Taras Shevchenko’s birth. The tour route ran from the children’s institution through the streets named after Taras Shevchenko and Ivan Soshenko, a Ukrainian artist and teacher.
Olena Raikova, a senior researcher at the Preserve, spoke in a form accessible to preschoolers about the friendly relations between Taras Shevchenko and Ivan Soshenko, about their stay in Korsun. The tour ended at the grave of Ivan Soshenko, to which the children laid flowers.
