One of the most magical and mysterious holidays – Ivana Kupala – is celebrated on the night of July 6-7. It is believed that on this night nature is filled with life-giving energy and also reveals its secrets. Among the many ancient rites of the Kupala event, the Ukrainian people have preserved, in particular, the custom of weaving Kupala wreaths by girls.
\nOn July 6, Kateryna Loyenko, a junior researcher of the nature conservation department, held a master class on making wreaths from meadow and field plants on the territory of the Reserve. A table with colorful, fragrant herbs and flowers beckoned both adults and children who visited the Reserve that day. Someone was interested in plants, someone remembered the smell of mint, wormwood, lovage… And of course, the girls joined in making wreaths. For their production, both traditional plants were used – field ax, motherwort, wormwood, mint, and exotic plants – sedge, daylily, gailardia. 15 unique wreaths were woven, which harmoniously combined the bright energy of nature and the unique world of the human soul. Each girl, wearing a wreath made by herself, seemed to turn into a magical mermaid and attracted the attention of passers-by.
