On August 10, the Reserve hosted an ethnographic event dedicated to Macoviy (Macovius), which is celebrated on August 14. During the event, bouquets of talismans (“poppies” were made). According to folk tradition, they symbolize well-being, health, peace and well-being in the home.
\nA variety of potions were offered to create bouquets: yarrow, mint, motherwort, burdock, tansy, field axes, periwinkle, as well as sunflower, asters, marigolds, twigs of oak and viburnum, etc.

\nTo their “poppies” the participants of the event necessarily added plants, which, according to beliefs, are endowed with magical properties: wormwood – from evil spirits, prickly hollyhocks or thistles – from impotence, poppy heads – to protect the Lord from evil spirits. Everyone chose the plants they liked. After the formation of the bouquet was completed, it was necessarily tied with a red thread, which, according to folk beliefs, protects against the “evil eye” and “abandonment”. The creation of charm bouquets united children and adults, made everyone positive and gave many bright emotions.

Reserve scientists Kateryna Loyenko and Larisa Grebenichenko interestingly told the audience about each plant, most of which grows on the territory of the landscape park in Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi.
