Exhibition for the Artist’s Day<\/p>\n
On the eve of the Artist’s Day, an exhibition of the works of the Ukrainian artist, restorer and writer Denys Nevkryty (1895-1970) was opened in the Poniatovsky Palace museum.<\/p>\n
The artist had diverse interests.<\/p>\n
In 1919, he graduated from the Kyiv Art School, where his teachers were Fotiy Krasytskyi, Hryhoriy Dyadchenko, Volodymyr Menk, Ivan Seleznyov, Fedir Krychevskyi.<\/p>\n
He was fond of Ukrainian theater, attended a drama school, where he met Maria Starytska, Oksana Steshenko, and others.<\/p>\n
In the 1920s, he joined the literary organization “Plough”, wrote the stories “The Handmaiden” and “Bread”, short stories.<\/p>\n
In 1938\u20131941, the artist worked in Kyiv in the Central Research and Restoration Museum Workshops. He brought back to life the canvases of famous masters – Dmytro Levytsky, Ivan Shishkin, Ivan Aivazovsky and many other artists. During the Second World War, Denys Nevkryty was in the active army and returned to his favorite business only in August 1945.<\/p>\n
The artist restored the paintings of the Dresden Gallery, and also restored the wall paintings of the Volodymyr Cathedral and St. Andrew’s Church.<\/p>\n
24 works of Denys Nevkryty are presented at the exhibition. Through the artist’s view, we see sunny landscapes flooded with light and greenery.<\/p>\n
