New Research by the Reserve\u2019s Scholars<\/p>\n
On October 30, the 18th Scientific Readings titled \u201cNew Research by the Reserve\u2019s Scholars\u201d took place at the Public Library of the Korsun-Shevchenkivsk City Council. During the event, scholars from the Korsun-Shevchenkivsk State Historical and Cultural Reserve presented the results of their latest research. A total of 9 academic reports were delivered. The sources for these reports included archival documents, materials from field studies, and the Reserve\u2019s collection holdings.<\/p>\n
The head of the \u201cPoniatowski Palace\u201d Museum, PhD in History Svitlana Kostenko, spoke about the creativity of displaced artists who settled in the Korsun region during the Russian-Ukrainian war.<\/p>\n
The Reserve\u2019s Deputy Director for Scientific Work, Lidiya Ovsiienko, highlighted the anti-Bolshevik insurgent movement in the Kaniv County in 1920\u20131921 based on archival sources.<\/p>\n
Biographical studies were the focus of presentations by Tetiana Poliakova, head of the Military Museum, and Larysa Tsiomenko, head of the K.H. Stetsenko Memorial Museum. Tetiana Yuriyivna spoke about Olga Peti, a native of Korsun and the first female lawyer in France, while Larysa Petriivna explored the works of Kseniia Stetsenko, the great-granddaughter of the renowned Ukrainian composer Kyrylo Stetsenko.<\/p>\n
Andrii Khavrus, head of the Ivan Nechui-Levytsky Literary and Memorial Museum, analyzed Nechui-Levytsky\u2019s ethnographic essay \u201cUkrainian Humorists and Tricksters.\u201d Senior Research Associate Olena Raikova presented the Christmas carol \u201cOh, on Christmas Eve,\u201d recorded in the village of Sotnyky.<\/p>\n
The presentations by Halyna Davydenko, head of the educational outreach department, on today\u2019s volunteer movement, and by Anna Zubko, research associate at the \u201cPoniatowski Palace\u201d Museum, on pottery masters of the second half of the 20th century, were based on fieldwork.<\/p>\n
Kateryna Lojenko, junior research associate in the nature conservation department, spoke about the types of willows growing in the Korsun-Shevchenkivsk Park.<\/p>\n
The scientific papers will be published in the Korsun Chronicle journal in 2025. It is hoped that they will attract the interest of scholars and local historians, and be useful for teachers, students, and pupils.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
