Ethno Workshop \u201cMakovyichok\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

On the eve of the Honey Savior (Medovyi Spas) or Makoviy holiday, traditionally celebrated on August 1st, the Reserve hosted an ethno-themed workshop titled \u201cMakovyichok\u201d<\/em> dedicated to making herbal protective bouquets. According to custom, these small bouquets are composed of medicinal herbs and flowers believed to carry protective properties.<\/p>\n

For the event, Kateryna Lojenko, a junior researcher in the Nature Protection Department, gathered traditional herbs and flowers used to create makovyichky<\/em>: sage, hyssop, eryngium, yarrow, tansy, fireweed, mint, wormwood, wheat spikes, poppy, thyme, lovage, marigolds, and others. Each plant included in the bouquet holds a special symbolic or magical meaning.<\/p>\n

With guidance from researchers, participants used the gathered herbs to craft their own unique protective bouquets and listened to engaging stories about the customs and traditions of the Makoviy celebration. It was heartwarming to see both children and adults take part in the event.<\/p>\n

This collective activity and heartfelt interaction brought a festive spirit to everyone involved, along with a shared belief that the bouquets they created would not only protect their families but also shield Ukraine from enemies and evil forces.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
