On August 30, the 8th All-Ukrainian race “I Honor the Warriors, I Run for the Heroes of Ukraine” took place in the city of Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi, on the territory of the Reserve, dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of the Defenders of Ukraine, which has been celebrated annually on August 29 since 2019. Its goal is to preserve the memory of every Hero who died for Ukraine.
The event began with a tribute to all the Heroes who gave their lives for Ukraine in the Russian-Ukrainian war. A poignant address to the participants was delivered by Svitlana Brukhtiy, a resident of Korsun, whose son had gone missing.
More than 100 participants took part in the race: Korsun residents who registered on the platform of the Ministry of Veterans Affairs of Ukraine, relatives, comrades-in-arms, friends of fallen Heroes, volunteers, young athletes and their coaches, students of the city’s educational institutions, and employees of the Reserve. Most of them covered a distance of two kilometers.
The event not only perpetuates the memory of the Hero-Defenders, but also reminds every Ukrainian of the value of our peaceful dawns.
The organizers of the race are the Korsun-Shevchenkovsk City Council, the Korsun-Shevchenkovsk State Historical and Cultural Reserve.
