Exhibitions

The Ponyatovsky Palace Museum is exhibiting an exhibition of works by students Shevchenko Art Lyceum “Koloryt” (Zvenyhorod district, Cherkasy region). The exhibition presents 62 works by students and teachers of the Fine Arts Department, made in the techniques of graphics, painting, applique-collage, and others. These are illustrations to the works of Taras Shevchenko, plein air sketches, and creative compositions that reflect the richness of children’s imagination, love of beauty, and the desire for creative self-expression. The exhibition will be on display until December 31, 2025.

An exhibition of embroidered towels is open in the central hall of the Poniatowski Palace Museum. Their uniqueness lies in the fact that they were embroidered by Ukrainian women who were forced laborers in the Third Reich during World War II. Almost all towels are embroidered on homespun cloth with a counting cross. All embroideries are based on ribbon ornaments, mainly from the Polesie region. Denys Nevkryty, artist, restorer, writer, was born on June 16, 1895 in the village of Matviyivka in the Poltava region. In 1916–1919 he studied at the Philological Faculty of the Imperial University of St. Volodymyr (Kyiv). In 1919 he graduated from the Kyiv Art School, where his teachers were Fotii Krasytskyi, Hryhorii Dyadchenko, Volodymyr Menk, Ivan Seleznyov, Fedir Krychevskyi. While still at school, Denys Nevkryty became interested in Ukrainian theater, attended drama school, where he met the famous actress Maria Starytska, writer Oksana Steshenko, and other figures of Ukrainian culture. On May 18, on the International Day of Museums, a mobile exhibition “Picturesque Ukraine” based on the “Coloring Book about Ukraine, Ukrainians, peace and Freedom” was presented on the territory of the Reserve. The idea of publishing such a book arose from the young Ternopil woman Vira Hrabchuk under the impression of a road trip through Ukraine, which she made in the summer of 2021, driving from Ternopil to Slovyansk. On the International Day of Museums, May 18, the exhibition “Ukraine in my heart” was displayed on the territory of the Reserve. It featured 48 children’s works at workshops held in the Nature Reserve in March-September 2022 and January-April 2023. A total number of 23 workshops were held: 10 – patriotic, 4 – ethnographic, 9 – natural. 387 children attended, aged 3 to 14, among whom the vast majority were immigrants from Kharkiv, Mariupol, Kramatorsk, Kherson, Kyiv, Bila Tserkva, and other cities of Ukraine. The “Memory of an Ongoing War” exhibition has been extended until March 5, 2023. We invite you to visit! The “Memory of the Ongoing War” exhibition is on display in the Historical Museum of the Reserve as part of the “Reserve – Volunteers – Armed Forces of Ukraine” campaign.
