“Shevchenkiana in the work of artists of the Korsun region”
editOn May 22, the exposition of the Ponyatovsky Palace Museum hosted a literary hour “Shevchenkiana in the Works of Artists of the Korsun Region” as part of the cultural and artistic project “Reading “Kobzar””. The event was timed to the 211th anniversary of the birth and 165th anniversary of the reburial of T.H. Shevchenko in Kaniv on Chernechaya Gora.
Among the guests were people in whose lives the majestic figure of Taras Shevchenko occupies a leading place. These are artists, cultural workers, the city’s public, and young people.
The host and organizer of the event, Halyna Davydenko, head of the educational work sector, told those present about the last earthly days of Taras Hryhorovych Shevchenko, his difficult and long journey back to his native Ukraine, and the relevance of the Kobzar’s legacy in the harsh realities of today.
Members of the women’s literary and artistic club “Barvy” Anna Savranska, a member of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine and the organizer of the club “Barvy”, Lyudmila Pavlyk and Lyudmila Temna introduced the audience to their works on the Shevchenko theme. Poems by Victoria Yelyseeva, a poet, musician and composer, who was unable to personally participate in the event, were read by her friend and colleague Halyna Kulyk. For the Barvy women, “Kobzar” became a spiritual tuning fork to which they tune their creative voice.
Tetyana Kolisnyk, a public figure, volunteer, and participant in the amateur art activities of the House of Culture of the Korsun-Shevchenko City Council, spoke about T.G. Shevchenko’s use of the word “roaring” in the poem “Testament”, as well as about the energy of the Dnieper islands.
Those present very warmly and sincerely received the speech of Yaroslav Loenko, the youngest participant of the event, who read the Kobzar’s autobiographical work “I Was 13 Years Old.”
At the event, songs to the words of T.G. Shevchenko sounded inspiring and touching: “Not a Tall Poplar” was performed by Valentyna Hryniuk and Tamara Vinglevska, talented performers, composers, heads of the exemplary studio of Ukrainian songs “Colors of Korsunya” and the vocal studio “Oriyana” of the Center for Children and Youth Creativity of the Korsun-Shevchenko City Council; “A Red Kalina Bloomed in the Valley” – Anna Savenko, professional singer, head of the folk amateur vocal ensemble “Kupava” of the House of Culture of the Korsun-Shevchenko City Council.
The performance of Lyubov Tretyak, a periwinkle, author and performer of her own songs, left no one indifferent. For the event, she prepared the song “Ukrainian Family” about eternal love for the holy land, the native language, family, and Ukrainian song.
The guests got acquainted with the exhibition “Kobzars” by T.G. Shevchenko from the fund collection.
Finally, all those present sang a song to the words of Taras Shevchenko, “The Broad Dnieper Roars and Groans,” which became a kind of anthem of Ukrainians. And it seemed that along with the majestic and sincere singing that echoed in the halls of the ancient palace, the spirit of our immortal Genius – the Kobzar, soared.
We thank our heroic defenders for this meeting, for life, for peaceful dawns.
