Exhibition “The Armed Forces of Ukraine – a Reliable Shield of Ukraine”
To mark International Museum Day, May 18, the Military Museum of the Reserve has created an exhibition “The Armed Forces of Ukraine – a Reliable Shield of Ukraine”.
The exhibition features 74 sleeve and breast patches (so-called chevrons) from the Reserve’s fund collection. Among them are officially approved sleeve insignia with emblems of military units, breast plates, in particular, with blood type and Rh factor, as well as insignia (epaulettes). A number of unofficial patches created to raise morale, self-identification, and demonstrate soldier’s humor are presented. They are worn on backpacks, baseball caps, and areas of the uniform free from official insignia.
All patches exhibited at the exhibition belonged to our compatriots – participants in the Russian-Ukrainian war and were transferred to the Reserve by both the soldiers themselves and their relatives. Each patch has its own unique story.
The organizer of the exhibition is Tatyana Polyakova, head of the military museum.
