“A Journey with the “Ukrainian-Jewish Meeting” from Antiquity to 1939″
The Poniatowski Palace Museum hosts a traveling exhibition, “A Journey with the “Ukrainian-Jewish Encounter” from Antiquity to 1939,” created by the Canadian non-governmental organization “Ukrainian-Jewish Encounter.”
For centuries, Ukraine has been home to diverse peoples, including one of the oldest and largest Jewish communities in the world. The exhibition invites you on a journey spanning the millennial history of Ukrainians and Jews. The two peoples have gone through long periods of normal coexistence and cultural enrichment, as well as traumatic episodes of violence during turbulent times, revolutions, and wars.
The exhibition also highlights the unique aspects of religious and secular Jewish culture that flourished in the lands that are part of modern Ukraine, in connection with the rich and distinctive culture of Ukrainians.
The purpose of the exhibition is to strengthen mutual understanding between the Ukrainian and Jewish peoples through a deeper understanding of the breadth, complexity, and diversity of the relations between the two peoples in the past and present.
The exhibition will be on display until December 15, 2025.
