On April 14, the participants of the Ukrainian boxing tournament for boys and girls, which takes place in the city of Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi, planted young oak saplings on the territory of the Reserve Park. They are grown from acorns collected from a thousand-year-old oak in the village Budyshe, Zvenigorodka district of the Cherkasy region. They were a silent witnesses of the childhood of the great prophet of Ukraine, Taras Shevchenko. The event took place within the framework of the program of the President of Ukraine “Green Country” and the All-Ukrainian environmental action “Shevchenko unites Ukraine”, with the assistance of the head of the Cherkasy regional state administration Ihor Taburets. The first deputy head of the State Environmental Inspection of the Central District, Serhii Polishchuk, handed over the saplings to the city of Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi.

Vitalyi Matsyuk, Acting Mayor of Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi, and Director of the Nature Reserve Paraskoviya Stepenkina took part in the planting of saplings..Oak trees were planted near the “Shevchenko Chestnut” botanical monument. According to folk tales, this chestnut grew in the park during Taras Hryhorovych’s visit to it in 1859.

All the oaks have taken root.
