On April 2, the presentation of the exhibition “Indomitable Faces of War” by Yaroslav Bayda took place at the Poniatowski Palace Museum.

The artist was born in Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi, Cherkasy region. He graduated from the Cherkasy Art and Technical College and the Kirovograd Institute of Regional Management and Economics with a degree in “Designer”. He worked as a teacher of fine arts at the Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi and Boguslavskyi Pedagogical Colleges, later as a teacher of painting and color science at the Kyiv Professional College of Technology and Design.

Yaroslav Petrovych has a talent for teaching schoolchildren and students not just to draw, but to create, a great gift for revealing and developing the creative potential of young people. His students take first places in competitions, receive Grand Prix at all-Ukrainian art festivals.

On February 25, 2022, Yaroslav Petrovych left a peaceful life, his students, and stood up to defend Ukraine. Currently, the junior lieutenant, commander of the rifle platoon of the 111th separate territorial defense brigade, call sign “Picasso”, has been defending his native land from the enemy for the fifth year.

At the front, Yaroslav Bayda creates portraits of his comrades, which have become symbols of courage, steadfastness, and indomitability. The exhibition presents 23 portraits of the artist’s combat comrades, made in pencil.

Unfortunately, among the portrayed are soldiers who died in the war and became Angels of the Heavenly Army. Those present honored the memory of the soldiers whose hearts stopped defending their native Ukrainian land with a moment of silence.

Yaroslav Bayda spoke about the Ukrainian soldiers whose portraits are presented at the exhibition. The works were described by Alla Rudenchenko, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Decorative Arts and Restoration at Borys Grinchenko Kyiv Metropolitan University.

Musical congratulations for the artist were performed by Sofia Ovsiy, Anastasia Kushniruk, and Pavlo Oborin, students of the Korsun-Shevchenko Art School named after K.G. Stetsenko.

The exhibition will be open until July 1.
