On April 14, the participants of the All-Ukrainian boxing tournament for boys and girls, which takes place in the city of Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi, planted young oak saplings on the territory of the Reserve park. They are grown from acorns collected in the village. Buildings of the Zvenigorodka district of the Cherkasy region from a thousand-year-old oak, which is a silent witness of the childhood of the great prophet of Ukraine, Taras Shevchenko. The event took place within the framework of the program of the President of Ukraine “Green Country” and the All-Ukrainian environmental action “Shevchenko unites Ukraine”, with the assistance of the head of the Cherkasy regional state administration Ihor Taburets. The first deputy head of the State Environmental Inspection of the Central District, Serhiy Polishchuk, handed over the saplings for the city of Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi.

Vitaly Matsyuk, Acting Mayor of Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi, and Director of the Nature Reserve Paraskovia Stepenkina. Oak trees were planted near the “Shevchenko Chestnut” botanical monument. According to folk tales, this chestnut grew in the park during Taras Hryhorovych’s visit to it in 1859.
