On July 31, on the eve of the Macovius holiday, the Reserve hosted an ethno-master class “Macovius Potion,” during which visitors could make a traditional amulet bouquet. It was usually consecrated in the church and kept throughout the year.

It is believed that each plant in the traditional amulet bouquet has sacred meaning and powerful energy, so it protects the home and family from evil, illness, and misfortune, and also embodies harmony with nature and gratitude for the harvest.

During the ethno-master class, more than 20 bouquets of amulets were made. Kateryna Loyenko, a junior research associate in the nature conservation department, helped both adults and children create their own bouquet. Although each visitor used the same potion, the bouquets of amulets turned out to be unique.

The time allotted for the ethno-meeting flew by in friendly conversations about Ukrainian traditions and history, about the difficult present, and with faith in a peaceful, bright future.
