editEXHIBITION PRESENTATION “UNBROKEN JOURNALISM”
On March 13, the central hall of the “Poniatowski Palace” Museum hosted the presentation of the exhibition “Unbroken Journalism”, featuring works by Roman Sushchenko. A former serviceman and journalist, he was imprisoned from 2016 to 2019 in the Lefortovo detention center and a penal colony in Utrobino, Kirov Oblast, Russia, on charges of espionage. A Moscow court sentenced him to 12 years of strict regime. While in captivity, he painted, which helped him preserve his spirit and maintain hope for freedom.
At the author’s request, one of his works will be featured in the upcoming online art auction “Victory for Ukraine!”
The exhibition presentation was attended by artists, craftsmen, journalists, cultural workers, students from the pedagogical college, and guests of the city. Impressions of the artworks and admiration for the courage of this Kremlin prisoner were shared by Oleksandr Vorona, member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine; Liudmyla Tarasenko, Deputy Director of the Pedagogical College; Halyna Dobrovolska-Rybalkina, head of the local branch of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine; Volodymyr Baranenko, head of the Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi branch of the All-Ukrainian Environmental League; and Paraskoviya Stepenkina, Director of the Reserve.
The presentation took place in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Everyone had the opportunity to speak with Roman Sushchenko and take a photo with him as a memento.
We warmly invite you to visit the exhibition.
