From the history of one exhibit
editEach exhibit presented at the exhibition “Ukraine – above everything!”, which was recently opened in the military museum of the Reserve, has a special story. In particular, in one of the halls, visitors carefully examine a colorful embroidered towel. But few people know that he had to overcome hundreds of kilometers before getting to the Reserve.
The Lyashyki couple, Anna and Valery, from the city of Svatovoy, Luhansk region, were forced to leave their hometown on the first day of the full-scale invasion of the Russian invaders into Ukraine. They came to the city of Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi. According to Ms. Anna, they were hospitably greeted, fed, and warmed by Tetyana Peretyatko, head of the NGO “Soldier’s Mothers of the Korsun Region”. They were impressed by her hospitality, kindness, care. In gratitude for the help provided, an embroidered towel was presented. Tetyana Volodymyrivna was very touched by such a gift and handed it over to the Reserve. While working on the exhibition, we got in touch with the Lyashyks, and Ms. Anna told us the history of the towel. This is a family heirloom. It was embroidered by her grandmother Lyudmila Sviloguzova, a folk craftswoman of the Luhansk Region, a participant in the All-Ukrainian reviews of folk art, a prize winner of many competitions and festivals. Her works are exhibited in many museums of Ukraine and are in private collections abroad.
On October 29, Anna Lyashik, together with her compatriots who temporarily live in our city, visited the museums of the Reserve. She also visited the exhibition “Ukraine – above everything!”, where a towel embroidered by her grandmother is on display, talked about her creative work, showed towels that are kept in the family as the most valuable – spiritual treasure.
The meeting was warm and emotional. We are pleased that Ms. Anna is our colleague, a historian-museologist by education. Currently, she works remotely as the artistic director of the Svativ City People’s House “Svatova-Luchka”. We agreed with Ms. Anna about cooperation.
