INSECT HOUSE
editINSECT HOUSE
May 20 is World Bee Day. This environmental date was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2018 to raise awareness about the vital role of bees and other pollinating insects in maintaining a healthy ecosystem on our planet.
As part of the environmental project “Let’s Preserve the Environment,” the Reserve joined in the celebration of this date. Together with young nature enthusiasts—2nd grade students of the Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi Lyceum—they created an “Insect House” in the Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi Park. The compartments of the house were filled with various materials needed for the habitation, reproduction, and wintering of insects living in the area.
During the event, junior research associate of the Nature Conservation Department, Kateryna Lojenko, told the children about the types of insects the house was made for. Together, they discussed the important role these insects play in nature and human life.
