READING “KOBZAR”

To mark the 211th anniversary of the birth of the Great Kobzar, a literary hour titled “Figures of National Leaders in the Works of Taras Shevchenko” was held at the Historical Museum of the Reserve as part of the cultural and artistic project “Reading ‘Kobzar.’” The event was attended by writers, scholars, poets, and 10th-grade students from the Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi Lyceum.
A heartfelt and engaging speech was delivered by Svitlana Dremluk, a renowned literary critic and Shevchenko scholar. She spoke about Shevchenko’s legacy, which has become a powerful factor in shaping national consciousness and an inspiration for Ukrainians in their struggle for truth, freedom, and a bright future.
Emotionally resonant poetry on Shevchenko themes was presented by Liudmyla Temna (pen name: Yaryna Yar), a poet, author of several poetry collections, and a volunteer.
Kateryna Lojenko, junior researcher at the Reserve, read an excerpt from Shevchenko’s poem “Haidamaky,” and Angelina Karpenko, a 10th-grade student of the Lyceum, recited the poem “The Excavated Grave.”
For Ukrainians, Shevchenko is a symbol of conscience and homeland. We deeply believe that with him and his words: “Fight – and you shall overcome, God helps you, the truth is yours, the glory is yours, and holy freedom is yours,” which have become our slogan and our weapon in the Russo-Ukrainian war—we will undoubtedly prevail.
