UNFADING MEMORY

On March 18, the Military Museum of the Reserve hosted an event commemorating the 36th anniversary of the birth of Yurii Kupriiev—a public figure, volunteer, participant in the Revolution of Dignity and the Russo-Ukrainian war, a true defender and patriot of Ukraine. His life was tragically cut short on August 19, 2022, during combat with Russian occupiers near the village of Kodema in the Donetsk region.

Among the guests were the Hero’s parents—mother Olha Oleksandrivna and father Oleksandr Mykhailovych, his childhood friend and classmate Vasyl Piskun with his family, his comrade and fellow member of the civic organization “Sports and Patriotic Club ‘Korsun-Sich’” Volodymyr Khotobov, and Svitlana Hondiuk, mother of fallen soldier and Yurii Kupriiev’s friend, Serhii Hondiuk.

The event was prepared by students of the Korsun-Shevchenkivskyi Lyceum (formerly a gymnasium until 2024), where Yurii studied. The students recounted Yurii Kupriiev’s life and military journey. Touching and emotional speeches were given by Vasyl Piskun and Volodymyr Khotobov. Poetry was read, tears were shed, and pain was intertwined with pride for our Defender. The event was heartfelt and moving.

Let us remember our Heroes—this is the least we can do for them. Let us learn from them how to love our Homeland.
