The Reserve launched an environmental campaign “Feed the Birds” as part of the environmental project “Let’s Save the Environment”, the implementation of which is important for preserving biodiversity and maintaining ecological balance in the phytocenoses of the Korsun-Shevchenko Park.

On November 19, the students of the Medicinal Plants club (led by Valentina Martynova) of the Center for Children and Youth Creativity of the Korsun-Shevchenkivsk City Council joined the action. Together with Kateryna Loyenko, a junior research associate in the nature protection department, the children made a creative bird feeder and talked about the birds that stay to winter in the park. The young nature lovers also hung 5 bird feeders on Kotsiubynsky Island, which they filled with bird food.

Winter is coming soon. And once again, birds will need our help in difficult times. When going for a walk in the park, don’t forget to take treats for them and remember the rules of feeding so as not to harm them by helping.

Salty, spicy, moldy food and various types of bread products are HARMFUL to birds, while sunflower seeds, nuts, acorns, cereals, and fruits are BENEFICIAL.

Feeders need to be filled regularly, as interrupting feeding can lead to birds starving at a critical moment.

A clean feeder is essential for the health of your birds. Therefore, you should constantly clean out spoiled food from your bird feeders
