“Song in the struggle for Independence”
editOn February 19, the reserve’s art gallery hosted a museum event “Song in the Struggle for Independence”, dedicated to the Day of Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, held as part of the socio-cultural project “With Ukraine in the heart.”
Among the guests were participants of the Revolution of Dignity and hostilities in Eastern Ukraine, citizens and youth.
The event was addressed by Stanislav Stepenkin, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Head of the Historical Museum of the Preserve, who spoke about the main milestones of the struggle of the Ukrainian people for their independence.
Pavlo Krysiak shared his memories of participating in the revolutionary events on Independence Square in Kyiv. He was on the Maidan from the first to the last day. From there, together with other Maidan volunteers, he went to war to protect the conquest of the Revolution of Dignity and the territorial integrity of Ukraine from the encroachments of the Russian occupiers. He fought in the volunteer battalion “Peacemaker”, demobilized in 2015. His account of the events on the Maidan was balanced, manly stingy, and therefore even more exciting and convincing. Pavlo Oleksandrovych handed overto the Preserve the Chevron of the “Peacekemaker“Regiment of the Special Police Police.
Volodymyr Baranenko, an eyewitness and participant in the events on Independence Square and head of the Korsun-Shevchenkivska district organization of the All-Ukrainian Ecological League, was sincere and emotional. He created his own photo chronicle of the events that took place in Kyiv and was the first to respond to the request of scientists of the Preserve to submit their photos from the Maidan for exhibition. His photos were used during the creation of the exhibition “Ukraine – above all!”. At the event,Volodymyr Vasyliovych handed over the helmet to the Preserve, which was taken from “titysky” at the checkpoint in Korsun-Shevchenkivskiy on February 20, 2014.
The participants of the event observed a minute of silence in memory of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred and soldiers who gave their lives for a free and independent Ukraine.
As always, patriotic songs performed by the men’s folk Cossack group “Manzhary” of the Korsun-Shevchenkivskiy City House of Culture were performed at a high professional level. No one was indifferent to the songs written and performed by Serhiy Kalinichenko, a known singer, composer and musician in the Korsun region.
The performance of duets consisting of talented singers and composers, sisters Valentyna Hrynyuk and Tamara Vinglevska, as well as Tamara Vinglevska and her student Alina Sofienko had a significant emotional impact on the participants of the event.
